In a Pinch
Joel Stanton writes and produces electronic pop music in Seattle. His debut single, Drifting, is about daydreaming in the face of danger and attempting to reach the other side in one piece. Drifting was mixed and mastered by Micah Smith (Perfect Families, Beakr).
While busy writing and performing as lead singer for dream-pop outfit Perfect Families, Joel spent his downtime exploring the digital landscape of synth and drum modules. Over three years and dozens of bedroom demos Joel honed in on a sound that balances dreamy vocals, drowsy synth layers, and down-tempo rhythms. His vocal-forward approach is an ode to the pop music tradition that has inspired him since day one.
Joel draws much of his electronic influence from contemporaries like Little Dragon and Blood Orange, while a fondness for Paul Simon and Hall and Oates linger in his singer-songwriter subconscious.
